Darren Lake

Matthew is Chief Operating Officer at Shephard Group, where he leads the company’s operations as a member of the leadership team. He has nearly 20 years' experience providing forecasting, analysis and insight to defence and other industries. Prior to joining Shephard Group in August 2018, Matthew was Head of Research and Insight at Capita Plc. Earlier in his career, he held roles in strategy at BAE Systems Land and Armaments and worked on defence economics and military forecasting at Janes.

Darren Lake

CEO & Chairman

Darren is CEO and Chairman of Shephard Group. He took over leadership of the business in 2012 and oversees its strategic direction, including the development of the Defence Insight and Studio products. Darren has more than two decades of experience in the aerospace and defence market and joined Shephard as the Editor of Unmanned Vehicles. Darren holds a BA in War Studies from King's College London and an MA in Politics, Security and Integration from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies.
